Gary Whitman is Associate Professor of Clarinet and Division Chair
of Wind and Percussion Studies at Texas Christian University in Fort
Worth, Texas. In addition to his position at TCU, Gary is the bass
clarinetist of the Fort Worth Symphony, performing in the classical
subscription series, “Pops”, the opera and ballet productions. Active
as a recitalist, he has performed at ClarinetFest conferences in
Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Maryland. His performances at
international conferences include Paris, France, Ostend, Belgium
and Stockholm, Sweden. He has served as guest lecturer in wind
performance and pedagogy at the National Conservatory of Music in
Mexico City and the Conservatory of Music “Josafat Roel Pineda” in
Lima, Peru. His chamber music affiliations include the Texas Clarinet
Consort, and Trio Con Brio, a TCU faculty trio dedicated to
performing and commissioning music for clarinet, viola, and piano. He
holds the BME and MME degrees from the University of North Texas
and was awarded the certificate de stage from the International Music
Institute in Nice, France. He has recently been selected for inclusion
in the eighth edition of Who’s Who Among America’s Teacher, 2004.
